Orkut, prima mănușă aruncată de către Google, în urmă cu 10 ani, în arena social networking-ului, se închide pe 30 septembrie 2014, așa să știți...
Over the past decade, YouTube, Blogger and Google+ have taken off, with communities springing up in every corner of the world. Because the growth of these communities has outpaced Orkut's growth, we've decided to bid Orkut farewell (or, tchau). We'll be focusing our energy and resources on making these other social platforms as amazing as possible for everyone who uses them.
We will shut down Orkut on September 30, 2014. Until then, there will be no impact on current Orkut users, to give the community time to manage the transition. People can export their profile data, community posts and photos using Google Takeout (available until September 2016).

Iar azi împlinesc 10 ani de gmail !
Parcă era ieri... Google anunțase lansarea serviciului pe 1 aprilie 2004, ca să fie clar...:) M-am așezat la coadă cîteva zile mai tîrziu - dar pînă să-mi vină rîndul, am primit link de activare de la Seba, care mă trecuse printre cele 10 persoane pe care putea să le invite la rîndul său.
Au urmat AdSense în 2005, Analytics și Apps în 2006 - și tocmai am constatat că am făcut primul upgrade de storage plan încă din 2007 (din 2009 am 80 GB) :)
Căci, da, încă mai am e-mail-urile astea... Și, dacă nu ștergeam, totuși, din ele, nici Gmail nu mi-ar fi fost suficient :) See for yourself...

In case you need online courses you simply google them directly, right ? So I assembled a simple search tool that looks specifically at MOOCs - you know, Massive Open Online Courses. Permanently placed in the right column of the Brînzoaice cu gem blog.
More exactly, the search tool is targeting the subdomains containing the course lists of (for the moment) Coursera, iversity, edX, Udacity, FutureLearn.
